No TTIP! national tour & day of action
Tuesday 8 July - Saturday 12 July War on Want is running a national tour with the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, UNISON, WDM and other partners to raise awareness and take action against the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). Currently being negotiated in secret between the EU and USA, TTIP is set to be the biggest transfer of power to transnational capital that we have seen in a generation, and it is up to us to stop it. There is already a major campaign against TTIP across continental Europe, and we need to build one in Britain too. Full details of speakers from the USA and Europe will be posted here soon; for now, here are the dates for your diaries - there's no need to sign up but it will help us get an idea of numbers if you do: 8 July, Birmingham, 7pmBerta Wright Room, Carrs Lane Centre, B4 7SX (map) - sign up via Facebook here 9 July, Manchester, 7pmNW UNISON Regional Centre, Arena Point, 1 Hunts Bank, M3 1UN (map) - sign up via Facebook here 10 July, London, 7pmMander Hall, NUT, Hamilton House, WC1H 9BD (map) - sign up via Facebook here 12 July, national day of action: No TTIP! events planned for around the country - sign up here

VoteWatch Europe: European Parliament, Council of the EU #ISDS #TTIP #TAFTA

The European Parliament this week adopted the Zalewski report on the distribution of responsibilities between the EU and its member states on the ‪#‎ISDS‬ (Investment to State Dispute Settlement) mechanism. A majority of MEPs voted in favour of this report, thereby endorsing their support for the ISDS mechanism of the EU-US free trade deal (‪#‎TTIP‬/‪#‎TAFTA‬), a mechanism that will make it possible for corporations to sue states in undemocratic offshore tribunals.

You can see here how your MEP voted - MEPs who voted in favour of this report need to be booted out in May, so please vote wisely.

Noam Chomsky: Obama Trade Deal A 'Neoliberal Assault' To Further Corporate 'Domination' #TTIP via @PaftaEu
The Obama administration's Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal is an "assault," on working people intended to further corporate "domination," according to author and activist Noam Chomsky. “It’s designed to carry forward the neoliberal project to maximize profit and domination, and to set the working people in the world in competition with one another so as to lower wages to increase insecurity,” Chomsky said during an interview with HuffPost Live. WATCH Chomsky's comments in the video above.
